Some of the critiques didn’t transfer onto my flash drive so I have contacted Starbound to see if we can get another copy – so all dances may not get their critiques this week. I wanted to share some of the comments that made me proud and thought was important for you to hear to reaffirm your decision to be part of our fabulous dance company.įirst off – I want to congratulate our rec team of Hands Up and Shake Shake. I listened to the judges critiques and looked at the written score sheets and we were given some great feedback. I want to congratulate our soloists that are invited to be in the opening number at the Starbound National’s Showcase: Jordan B., Emily K., Megan N. Thank you for having your dancers ready to go on time! You all did an amazing job with our quick changes and the Starbound staff was great with moving our dances around to accommodate our dancers. I thought this competition had some amazing talent and I just loved how the audience showed appreciation for other studio’s works. It is so refreshing to be in that type of environment. We can’t wait to see how much you’ve accomplished since we last met.I just want to thank all of you for another wonderful weekend of competition. We believe that if a student feels good about himself or herself, they WILL succeed! To those of you who are already a part of the “Starbound Family”, we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Every performer has worked hard to be where they are and their accomplishments deserve recognition. In keeping with our goal of providing a positive, self-esteem building experience, each and every performance is recognized at our Awards Ceremonies and receives an award for their efforts. Our Judges strive to employ that philosophy in each of their evaluations. We strongly believe that positive-reinforcement is an invaluable educational tool, essential to the goal of building a child’s self-esteem. dancer-3Starbound utilizes an adjudicated scoring system, which allows the judges to provide performers with a score, along with critiques.

Upon taking the stage to perform, Starbound competitors face a judging panel consisting of individuals who possess extensive professional performance experience as well as experience working with children of all ages. We value your time, and make diligent efforts to provide you with the most accurate schedule possible. The Stage Managers are also an integral part of why Starbound’s competitions are known to run “on time”. While competing, performers will find that the positive experience extends beyond the Directors! Our Stage Managers are friendly, professional and ready and able to assist with the timing of performances and the management of the backstage area. These efforts have enabled Starbound to acquire the “Starbound Family” feeling that so many of our customers are familiar with, and return each year to experience. dancer-2The Starbound Directors endeavor to communicate and speak personally with each and every Studio Director and as many parents and performers as possible at every competition.
Sandra and Wayne have created these lasting relationships by providing participating teachers, dancers and parents with a very positive, personal experience at each of their competitions.
Throughout the years, their success in this venture has been evidenced by the ever-growing numbers of returning customers, who are also considered to be friends.
Since 1994, Sandra Coyte, along with her husband Wayne, have strived to create a competition with a personal touch.
